Copper sulfate

What is Copper Sulfate?

Copper sulfate with chemical formula CuSO4.nH2O is an inorganic mineral that is composed of blue crystals in 5 water state.
Upon drying, it is converted to single water copper sulfate, which is a pale blue powder.
This substance is the most widely used copper salt in the industry and if heated to 200 degrees Celsius, it loses its water molecules and dries.
Decomposes at temperatures above 560 ° C and releases copper oxide by releasing sulfur dioxide (SO3).
Copper sulfate or blue cut reacts with concentrated hydrochloric acid to produce tetrachloro coprate (Cl4Cu-2).

Description

Method of production of copper sulfate

Production of copper sulfate is usually done by the reaction of sulfuric acid with metal copper filings with the help of oxidizing agents such as nitric acid (HNO3),
hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or hot air (second degree).
Another method is to produce copper sulfate by reacting with oxygenated water, which produces first-class, acid-free, odorless copper sulfate.
Which is used in various industries such as plating and fish farming. (First class)
First, the copper chips are transferred to a steel or polyethylene tank that is heated by steam.
Then water and sulfuric acid are added to it. Due to the slow reaction of sulfuric acid with copper metal, a strong oxidizer must be used to dissolve copper.
This is usually done with the help of nitric acid.
After the reaction and dissolution of copper, by boiling the solution, a significant amount of nitrate in the solution is converted to nitrogen gases and released from the solution.
The remaining soluble nitrate reduces the quality of copper sulfate and its impurities.
Date nitrogen gases were also toxic, and inhalation could lead to cancer as well as damage to the respiratory tract.
Scrubber and shower should be used to control exhaust gases and nitric acid recovery.
Production of copper sulfate without nitrate can be done with the help of oxygenated water or hot air injected into the solution.
Copper sulfate is produced by reacting malachite ore or copper concentrate with sulfuric acid or leaching soil or copper concentrate in a reactor.
After dissolving copper and other elements in the soil, the filtered solution will contain copper, iron and other impurities.
The resulting solution can be filtered and purified by solvent extraction (LIX) or deposition of impurities.
Sulfur copper concentrate and soil should first be dissolved in pressurized tanks and then purified and purified.
The copper sulfate solution produced by all the above methods is filtered by a filter press to purify the contamination and transferred to crystalline polyethylene tubs or a spray dryer.
And after crystallization, it will be ready for packaging and sale.
